Sumter teen charged in Dec. 30 murder

Sumter Police have charged a 16-year-old in a fatal shooting at a Miller Road apartment complex

sumter murder teenSUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) — Sumter Police have charged 16-year-old Jordan Jackson with murder in connection to a fatal shooting at a Miller Road apartment complex.

Police say Jackson is being held at a state Department of Juvenile Justive facility, awaiting a bond hearing. Under South Carolina law, a 16-year-old charged with murder faces prosecution as an adult.

image3The victim, 23-year-old Antawne Dargan, was found shot to death December 30 in an outside area of a building at Poplar Square apartments. An autopsy showed Dargan suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

image2Sumter PD has also arrested 21-year-old Deonte Perry, who they say concealed his knowledge of the fatal shooting. Perry is charged with misprision of a felony. He is being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center pending bond.
