Haley Gives Republican Response
Tonight's official GOP response was offered by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Tuesday night’s official GOP response was offered by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
Haley drew wide praise for her leadership after the June 17 slaying of nine parishioners of historic Emanuel AME Church in Charleston and successfully led calls to bring down a Confederate flag that had flown on Statehouse grounds for 54 years.
One of the most memorable parts of her speech was when Haley said, “We need to be honest with each other, and with ourselves: While Democrats in Washington bear much responsibility for the problems facing America today, they do not bear it alone. There is more than enough blame to go around.”
Haley becomes the first South Carolinian and third Republican woman ever to give the response.
