The Army's largest training installation welcomed Fort Jackson's new command sergeant major in a change of responsibility ceremony.

Ft. Jackson, S.C. (AP)–The Army’s largest training installation welcomed Fort Jackson’s new command sergeant major in a change of responsibility ceremony Thursday.

The ceremony for Command Sgt. Maj. Lamont Christian was held at the Solomon Center.

Christian takes responsibility as the most senior enlisted officer from outgoing Command Sgt. Maj. William Hain. Christian comes to the position after serving as the commandant of the Drill Sergeant Academy at Fort Jackson.

The Brooklyn, New York, native enlisted in the Army Reserves after completing basic combat training at Fort Jackson and advanced training as a parachute rigger. He later entered active duty and among other postings, served at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with the 82nd Airborne Division, the 18th Airborne Corps, and the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
