Committee Approves Interim Director Hall to Run SCDOT
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ The Senate Transportation Committee has unanimously approved appointing Christy Hall to run the Department of Transportation.
Hall has been the interim director of the state road agencies since last year, and lawmakers gave her high marks for handling the massive damage to state roads and bridges caused by October’s massive floods.
After Wednesday’s vote, Hall’s nomination now moves to the full Senate.
Hall says morale is increasing at the agency because workers are happy to have someone they know running the department. She says her goal is to stop the high turnover rate in all parts of the agency.
Committee chairman Larry Grooms says he will invite Hall back later this session to give a broader update on what can be done to improve South Carolina roads.
