Saturday in the Midlands: Residents brave the cold to have fun
Despite a dusting of snow and cold temperatures, Midlands residents came out to have fun Saturday
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Despite light snowfall and cold temperatures, Midlands residents came out to have fun Saturday.
At the State Museum, the winter edition of “Museum Roadshow” gave people the chance to get their family heirlooms, artifacts and collectibles appraised by experts. It also gave experts the chance to learn about the unique histories behind these objects.
The inaugural “Be a Boss Youth Summit” was held at EdVenture Children’s Museum. The event brought 200 kids from across the state, and the Augusta, GA area, to the museum. Several community leaders talked to the kids about challenges they face on a daily basis, and how they can overcome them.
It was also the first day of a new exhibit at EdVenture. “Dinos: The Big Dig” features robotic dinosaurs like the Stegosaurus, Raptor and Triceratops. Kids can also pan for gemstones or dig for fossils. The exhibit runs through April 24.
