Suspect in Custody After Firing Shots at Deputy

Arkeem BreelandRICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) — A man has been arrested after he allegedly fired shots at a Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy who was responding to a domestic disturbance call.

23-year-old Arkeem Breeland was arrested charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during a violent crime and unlawful carry of a firearm.

Sheriff Leon Lott said that Breeland, fired several shots at Deputy Christopher Bagby as he arrived on the scene; several shots struck the deputy’s patrol vehicle.

Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance just before midnight on Saturday Camrose Court.

He was arrested on Sunday, January 24 in the wood lines on near the shooting.

Breeland was treated at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital for  hypothermia and a pre-existing health condition.

Authorities say Breeland was out on probation when the incident occurred and has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
