COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) _ It was all the buzz on social media in the low-country earlier today…what was that rumble?
Some wondered if it was an earthquake but the u-s geological survey says there was not a quake in the area.
College of Charleston officials speculate that the shake was caused by a sonic boom.

A sonic boom is a loud explosive noise caused by the shock wave from an aircraft traveling faster than the speed of sound.
The Charleston area is no stranger to the phenomenon that can be caused by passing jets.
