SANTEE, S.C. (AP) – State police say a 23-year-old man has been charged with firing a rifle at an Orangeburg County deputy from a car last month.
The State Law Enforcement Division said in a news release that Gino Brown was arrested Friday and charged with attempted murder.
An arrest warrant says deputy CJ Quinian was trying to talk to two men at the Coasters nightclub in Santee on. Jan 16, when the men got in a car and drove toward him.
Agents say Brown stuck a rifle outside the car door and fired several times at the officer. The deputy was not hit, and returned fire.
It wasn’t known if Brown has a lawyer.
