SCHP Search for Commerical Vehicle Involved in Fatal I-77 Accident

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is looking for a heavy truck thought to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 77 that killed one man and injured another.

Lance Cpl. Gary Miller tells local media outlets that the incident happened about 3:45 a.m. Monday near Richburg in Chester County.

Authorities say a tractor-trailer truck and an SUV were traveling north when the tractor-trailer apparently hit the smaller vehicle sending it into the median where it overturned.

A passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt was killed while the driver was hospitalized.

The patrol says the heavy truck continued north on the interstate. Troopers are searching for a purple truck with damage to the right front fender and perhaps the wheel well.
