CPD: Investigation Continues in 2015 Shooting Death of 14-Year-Old
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Police Chief Skip Holbrook announced Tuesday that CPD are following new developments in the investigation of the shooting death of a 14-year-old teenager on Grand Street last July.
On July 3, in the 4100 block of Grand Street, NaJeer Buggs was shot as he and another individual were walking home after playing basketball at a nearby park.
Shortly after the incident, CPD released a surveillance picture of a light-colored, mid-size vehicle believed to be used in connection with the deadly shooting.
Buggs’ mother Lawanda Buggs made an emotional statement during a news conference after the incident sayin, “This is not right. He didn’t deserve this. He didn’t bother anybody. He was playing sports.”
Wali Sharif says,” My nephew wasn’t a gang banger. He was just walking home from a basketball game. This is very tragic. I want people to help us. Please say something if you know anything.”
