WATCH: Taking the Plunge for Special Olympics South Carolina

LAKE MURRAY, S.C. (WOLO) – More than 200 people took the plunge for Special Olympics South Carolina Saturday afternoon at Lake Murray.

The S.C. Department of Public Safety held the fourth annual “Polar Plunge.”

Organizers say there were more schools, law enforcement agencies and businesses involved this year, and they were very pleased with the turnout. The plunge was held at the Lake Murray Recreation Area on the Lexington side of the Lake Murray Dam. “Plungers” were asked to raise a minimum of $50 in donations.

Special Olympics South Carolina offers year-round athletic training and competitions for over 22,900 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
