Berkeley County Wounded Officer Continues to Recover
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A Berkeley County Officer is expected to recover after being shot while on duty.
Corporal Kimber Gist was shot during an early morning scuffle with a suspect following a traffic stop.
The suspected shooter has been identified as 36-year-old Travis Cantelle Smith. Officials say Smith was found dead a short time after in a nearby apartment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
More than $3,500 has been donated to Corporal Gist so far through a GoFundMe page.
