COLUMBIA, S.C. (USC SID) — For the third-straight year, South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley has been tabbed a finalist for the Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year award, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Wednesday. Staley joins UConn’s Geno Auriemma, Notre Dame’s Muffet McGraw and Oregon’s Scott Rueck on the list of finalists, and the winner will be revealed during the NCAA Women’s Final Four in Indianapolis on Mon., Apr. 4.

South Carolina enjoyed another record-breaking season under Staley, notching a program-best 13 wins over ranked opponents. The Gamecocks, who won at least 30 games for the second-straight season, were dominant in SEC play this year, earning victories in all 16 of their conference contests. South Carolina became just the second school to post a 16-0 record in league play in SEC history, and it tallied its second-consecutive SEC Tournament championship earlier this month. The three-time SEC Coach of the Year has led the Gamecocks to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last five seasons, and South Carolina reached the NCAA Final Four for the first time in program history last year.

The Gamecocks (31-1) received the No. 1 seed in the Sioux Falls Region and will open NCAA Tournament play against 16th-seeded Jacksonville on Fri., March 18, at Colonial Life Arena. The contest can be seen on ESPN2, and single-session tickets for the first and second rounds are currently on sale. Reserved seating in the lower bowl has sold out, but general admission seating is available for $15 (adult) for the first round (both games) and $12 (adult) for the second round. Youth, University faculty/staff and group pricing is also available.

Booklets for the entire weekend are available for $23 and include a general admission ticket for each round. Purchase ticket booklets by calling 1-800-4SC-FANS, visiting Colonial Life Arena box office during regular business hours or going online at GamecocksOnline.com. Single-session tickets are available at TickerMaster.com.
