DARLINGTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding the owner of a dog that was found with its head and mouth wrapped in duct tape.
An anonymous caller contacted the sheriff’s office Monday about a dog walking around Rogers Road in Darlington.
Deputies said they arrived and found a black dog with his mouth and head taped with duct tape.
The deputies caught the dog and safely removed the tape. He was taken to the Darlington County Animal Shelter for care and treatment.
Anyone with information about the dog is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (843) 398-4051 or (843) 398-4920.
The case is eerily reminiscent of Caitlyn the dog’s case in North Charleston last year that received national attention.
Caitlyn was found with her mouth taped shut. She was taken in by the Charleston Animal Society and eventually adopted.
The man accused of taping her mouth shut was arrested and is awaiting trial.
