Indie Grits Festival Kicks Off This Week
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) —The annual four-day Indie Grits, will get underway this week.
The film and culture festival, hosted by the Nickelodeon Theatre, will take place April 14–17, 2016 in Columbia.
In celebration of ten years of Indie Grits, event organizers say all events are free, thanks to a Central Carolina Community Foundation Connected Communities grant.
This year’s festival will feature pieces by local artists that respond to the festival theme, Waterlines.
After the historic flooding South Carolina experienced in October 2015, Indie Grits, hosted by the Nickelodeon Theatre, commissioned works by artists and media-makers to respond and interpret the ongoing recovery process.
In addition to the film competition with more than 50 films, Indie Grits also hosts music, tech, and art events through the four-day festival.
