Benedict Golf Finishes 2nd At SIAC Tourney
TUCKER, Ga. (BC SID) — Benedict’s Rajai Cousley shot a third-round 77 and won a one-hole playoff to capture the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award and helped lead the Tigers to a second-place finish in the 2016 SIAC Men’s Golf Championship at Heritage Golf Links.
Miles won the tournament with a three-day total of 322-326-314-962. Benedict shot the best team round on Wednesday with a 313 to finish with a three-day total of 335-355-313-983. Kentucky State rallied past Morehouse to claim third.
Cousley, already named the regular-season SIAC Golfer of the Year, finished tied with Miles’ Cameron Wilhite after 54 holes. The two played a one-hole playoff, with Cousley winning by a stroke. Wilhite, who started the day two strokes behind Cousley, shot a 3-over 75 on Wednesday. Cousley still had a one-stroke lead but bogeyed the 18th hole to drop down into a tie.
Kelly Allen shot a third-round 78 to finish in a tie for sixth.Muhammed NuMan shot a 79 on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 11th. Marqus Edwards shot a 79 to finish in 14th and Rhalston Jones shot an 83 and finished in 15th.
