WATCH: Holden Commits To Carolina Hoops

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Frank Martin is traveling down a familiar road for Gamecock basketball coaches.  He’s hoping it works out as well as it has in the past.

Tuesday afternoon Kory Holden committed to Carolina basketball.  The Delaware guard made the announcement on Twitter.

Holden averaged 17.7 points and 4.2 assists as a sophomore last season.  He picked USC over other big-time programs like Kansas and Baylor.

Holden will have to sit out next season and will have two more years of eligibility after that.

ESPN college basketball analyst Jeff Goodman rated Holden as the best college basketball transfer in the country this offseason.

Devan Downey starred at USC for Dave Odom after transferring from Cincinnati.  Downey shared the Gamecock backcourt with Zam Fredrick Jr., who transferred from Georgia Tech.

Martin has had two transfers in his four seasons at USC.  LaShay Page, a graduate transfer from Southern Miss, played just a few games before leaving USC in Martin’s first season.  Ty Johnson battled injuries in two seasons after transferring from Villanova.
