Man with Previous Burglary Convictions Arrested for More Burglaries

Julius Henderson GoodwinNEWBERRY COUNTY, SC (WOLO) – Authorities say a Little Mountain man with more than ten prior burglary convictions has again been arrested and charged with two counts of burglary.

Julius Henderson Goodwin aka Pete Caughman, 56, allegedly broke into Wilson’s II located on Main Street in Little Mountain  on April 4 and again on April 24 by breaking the glass in the front of the store with a cement block.

Each time the Goodwin took cartons Newport cigarettes from the store, officials say.

Newberry County Sheriff’s Foster said that the arrest was made based on forensic evidence, surveillance video, and good police work.

Goodwin has an extensive criminal history that includes 10 prior burglary convictions, a strong armed robbery conviction, and an array of larceny and drug related charges mounting to a twenty four page criminal history. He was last released from jail in November of 2014.

Goodwin had bond hearing yesterday afternoon and his bond was set at $15,000 cash. He is still in custody at the Newberry County Detention Center.
