LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WOLO) – The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday the arrests of a man and a woman in connection to a shooting in Gaston.

According to a release, Fareed Rasheed Makeen and Teresa Farris Epley are charged with murder. The shooting happened on Meadowfield Road on Friday, April 29.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the victim as Ryan Williams, 21, of Swansea. Fisher says Williams died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Sheriff’s deputies say Makeen and Epley “were present and involved with the shooting death of Ryan Williams last Friday at approximately 11:30 a.m., according to arrest warrants.”

Sheriff’ Jay Koon says, “Makeen was arrested (Monday) afternoon on a traffic stop in Virginia by officers of the Chesapeake Police Department. He’s being held in the Chesapeake Correctional Center. We will seek his extradition back to Lexington County.”

Koon said investigators arrested Epley in West Columbia Friday night. She’s being held in the Lexington County Detention Center. A judge denied her bond.

Makeen, 48, is a Jenkinsville resident. Epley, 46, resides in Swansea. Investigators say both could face additional charges in this case.

“Our investigation into this death is still open, we continue to gather information on the sequence of events as they unfolded on Friday,” Koon said. “We hope anyone with information on what happened or the nature of the relationships between those involved will come forward.”
