South Carolina Celebrates Senior Citizens
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — South Carolina is celebrating its senior citizens.
Thursday is Senior Day at the State House. It’s all a part of Older American’s Month.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging, in partnership with event sponsors AARP South Carolina, Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, and Walgreens, will welcome over 600 South Carolina senior citizens to the State House for the event.
There will be four areas of participation during the event:
- An informational fair in the lower lobby of the State House
- A tour of public transit options provided by the South Carolina Alliance for Mobile Infrastructure
- A tent on the State House grounds featuring guest speakers and entertainment
- Free, optional health screenings provided by Walgreens.
Lieutenant Governor Henry McMaster will kick off the event with a news conference at 9:30 a.m.
Also as a part of Older’s American’s Month, the Lourie Center will be holding a series of events.
