49ers Release Former Gamecock QB Thompson
(WOLO) — The San Francisco 49ers released former Gamecock quarterback Dylan Thompson Friday. Thompson was with the 49ers for one season.
The Boiling Springs, S.C. native spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster in week 10 but never took a regular season snap for the 49ers.
Thompson’s 5-year USC career included several dramatic moments, including the game-winning touchdown pass in the final seconds on New Year’s Day 2013 in the Outback Bowl. In his only season as a full-time starter as a senior, he set the USC single-season record with 3,564 passing yards.
I’ve been released by the @49ers . Grateful for the opportunity they gave me. We are excited to see where God puts us next & ready to work!
