COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– As the warmest months of the year approach, local police departments would like to remind everyone about their ongoing “Free Fan Program”.

This annual program provides hundreds of fans to those in the community who may not be able to stay cool otherwise.

The Lexington Police Department is accepting donations of new box style fans to continue this program. All donated fans must be new and in original packaging. In-kind donation forms are available for donations to this program through the Lexington Police Department Adopt-A-Cop fund. The In-kind donation form includes a tax identification number for tax deduction purposes.

Fans can be picked up at the Lexington Police Department during business hours at 111
Maiden Lane in Lexington. Community Action Team (C.A.T.) members are available to assist citizens who need a fan dropped off at their residence. An acceptance and release of liability form is completed for all fans that are given away through this program.

Plus, the West Columbia Police Department is also getting in on the program. If you would like to donate a new fan or if you need a fan there, contact Lt. John Norman at 936-6280. Tax deductible financial contributions should be made to the West Columbia Police Officers’ Foundation.

For additional information, contact Captain Scott Morrison 939-3187.
