LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO) – Lexington Police Department kicks off its “Operation Safe Tow” program Tuesday. The partnership with area tow services will give those who may be intoxicated another choice in getting home without getting behind the wheel.
Chief Terrence Green recently met with tow services from the greater Town of Lexington area, along with representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (LRADAC), to establish an agreement and guidelines for the program.
All participating tow services agreed on a set price of $100 for a vehicle and up to two people to be towed to their residence within 15 miles of the town of Lexington.
Participating tow services in the “Operation Safe Tow” program include Boatwright’s Paint & Body, Carolina Towing, Wingard Towing Service, Pro Tow of Columbia, Extreme Recovery, Mitchum’s Towing, Freedom Towing & Recovery, True Automotive Towing, Corey’s of Lexington, Pee Wee’s Towing, and A-1 Wrecker Service.
Posters with tow service contact information along with other promotional materials will be given to all restaurants and bars within the Town of Lexington and this program will launch before the launch.
