Fatal Accident on I-126

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) –The Columbia Police Department is investigating a second accident in as many days at roughly the same location.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said 48-year-old Elizabeth Lee Miller died from blunt force trauma to the head after the vehicle that she was the passenger in flipped over during an accident Wednesday evening on I-126 at Greystone Blvd.

According to police at least two others were taken to the hospital.

Miller died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle she was traveling in swerved and hit another vehicle.

According to a witness at the scene, the male driver of the other vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, got out of the car and left the scene on foot.

The accident took place not far from where a Columbia police officer was struck Tuesday.

Citizens should call Crimestoppers if they know who may have been driving a gray 2008 Toyota Corolla with paper tags.
