One person dies in Little Mountain house fire Saturday night

LITTLE MOUNTAIN, S.C. (WOLO) – One person died in a house fire late Saturday night in Little Mountain.

The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office said firefighters responded around 9:40 a.m. to the single story house on Glade Springs Road.

Crews from Little Mountain, Prosperity, Fairview, Lake Murray Rescue, Prosperity Rescue and Little Mountain Rescue assisted.

Newberry Sheriff Lee Foster said firefighters were able to quickly suppress the flames. When they were able to enter the home, they found a deceased person. Because there were no witnesses to the incident, SLED was called-in to assist NCSO and Newberry County Emergency Services.

Authorities said the coroner will identify the victim’s identity.
