Husband and Wife Charged with Elder Neglect Resulting in Death

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A man and his wife have been charged with neglect of a vulnerable adult in connection with the death of his 93-year-old mother, police said Tuesday.

Ted Keller, 67, and Tamera Keller, 51, turned themselves in to authorities on Friday, May 27.

On May 17, Richland County Sheriff’s deputies were notified by Mr. Keller that his mother was lying in bed unresponsive.

Authorities say the victim was later pronounced dead at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.

As a result of an investigation, authorities say they determined that Ted Keller and his wife Tamera Keller were the victim’s caregivers and had not fed the victim on a regular basis for more than a year.

The victim also lacked medical attention and lived in an unfit living condition causing her death, authorities say.

If you know any of our precious elderly who is vulnerable and being abused or neglected, to please call the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Victim’s Assistance Unit at 803-576-3115.

The Keller’s are being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center
