Coroner ID’s Victim in Overnight Wreck

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) –  The Richland County Coroner has released the name of the man who was killed in a bicycle vs. motor vehicle incident on Tuesday just before midnight.

Gary Watts said Hillard Smith, 70, of Gadsden was operating his bike in the roadway when he was struck.

He died as a result of  blunt force injuries to the head and chest

The crash happened in the 2400 block of Congaree Road in Gadsden.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
