Crimestoppers Tip Leads to Arrest of Attempted Murder Suspect
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Authorities say a Crimestoppers tip lead to the arrest of a 20-year-old man wanted for three counts of attempted murder.
Herbert Davon Oree is also charged with first degree burglary, third degree arson and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Oree was taken into custody by the Columbia Police Department’s Fugitive Team, Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies and the SLED agents inside a room at the Economy Inn on Broad River Road near I-20 last night.
Authorities say officers had been searching for Oree since May 22, when he allegedly broke into a Bailey Street home, stabbed three people and set part of the home’s interior on fire.
The flames were quickly extinguished by the victims and did not spread to the remainder of the house, authorities say.
The victims suffered stab wounds to the upper and lower bodies and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
One victim remains in the hospital.
Investigators are still investigation the crime, but believe the incident was isolated.
Oree is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
