Man arrested in Friday night stabbing death

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – The Columbia Police Department has charged a man with murder, after authorities said he stabbed someone to death.

Officials said Benjamin Goodwin, 41, stabbed two men multiple times at a house on Hillcrest Drive Friday night, after arguing with them. We’re told that one of them was able to run away. The other, identified by the Richland County Coroner as Richard Thomas, 54, died at the scene.

The mugshot is a previous booking photo for Goodwin, who’s being lodged at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Goodwin is charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violence crime.
