Hiring falls to worst in 5 years: Labor Dept.
WASHINGTON (AP)–
The unemployment rate is down to its lowest level since November of 2007, but not for a good reason.
It fell from 5 percent to 4.7 percent last month because nearly a half-million unemployed Americans stopped looking for work, and were no longer officially counted as unemployed. Hiring plunged in May to its lowest level in more than five years.’
The Labor Department says employers added just 38,000 jobs last month, the fewest since September 2010.
