WATCH: Rebuilding lives through furniture at S.C. Dept. of Juvenile Justice

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – An upholstery program at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice encourages young men to dream.

The program is about nine years old. Students are selected from among the 100 residents at the Broad River Road complex. They work in groups of ten to 15, two to three days a week.

Watch the video to learn how the program is not just about rebuilding furniture, but rebuilding lives.

If you’re interested in purchasing any of the re-purposed furniture, the Store of Hope is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and every third Saturday of the month, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s located at 3208 Broad River Rd. in Columbia.

If you have any old furniture you’d like to donate to the program, call the Store of Hope at (803) 896-6286.
