Uncle Accused in Fatal Hit-and-Run Arrested Overnight
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – The uncle accused of fatally killing his 3-year-old nephew on his birthday was arrested overnight.
Richland County Coroner said the child died after being struck by a vehicle in the driveway of his home in Hopkins Monday afternoon.
Gary Watts said Kevin Kitt succumbed to injuries he sustained after the vehicle Corey Frederick Kitt was driving backed over him at his home in the 100 block of Davis Road.
The incident occurred at 4 p.m. yesterday and he died just after 5 p.m. at Palmetto Health Hospital.
A 1-year-old was also struck during the incident.
Authorities say Kitt, 36, fled the scene after hitting the children.
Kitt will be charged with leaving the scene involving death, violation of habitual offender and third offense driving under suspension.
