Judge denies bond for Orangeburg men charged with attempted murder
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) – A judge has denied bond, for two men charged with attempted murder in Orangeburg County.
Authorities said Javall Curry, 24, and Christian Asher, 23, fired shots at a residence in the Roosevelt Gardens Apartment Complex around 1 a.m. Saturday. Investigators said deputies spotted their car, a blue Chevrolet Lumina, as it was leaving the complex, and followed them.
Officials report that when deputies tried to stop the suspects’ car, the vehicle sped up St. Matthews Road toward I-26. The driver lost control of the vehicle when attempting to make a turn onto Landfill Road. Investigators found a handgun inside the Chevrolet that was determined to have been stolen out of Orangeburg.
Curry and Asher are also charged with possession of a stolen handgun. Asher was further charged with failure to stop for a blue light and driving under suspension.
Bond was denied on each of the men during a hearing Sunday morning.
Witnesses said Curry got into an argument over a woman. They said both Curry and Asher left the Presidential Drive apartment area, but returned moments later. Gunshots started peppering the residence, they said.
The investigation is ongoing.
