COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – On Wednesday, Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group announced its partnership with Molina Healthcare in the FoodShare program.

Molina Healthcare has contributed $23,000 to the program which aims to put fresh fruits and vegetables on the table for low-income communities.

The funds will be used to hire an outreach worker who will actively engage members of the community to increase access to the FoodShareprogram, officials say.

FoodShare Columbia launched in April 2015 to increase access to fresh produce in low-income communities, and to address chronic health conditions.

Those with SNAP or EBT benefits purchase the boxes at a reduced rate and receive a $10 health incentive through SNAP.

The announcement was made at the Bellfield Cultural Arts Center.
