Sumter man arrested after chase through town
SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) – A Sumter man is behind bars after he sped off in his car when a deputy tried to pull him over for not wearing a seat belt, Sumter County Sheriff’s deputies said.
Officials said Roger Mullins, 29, is charged with failure to stop for a blue light and driving under suspension.
Sheriff’s deputies said the chase ended around 8:30 p.m. Friday in downtown Sumter, after Mullins crashed into a barricade in place for Fourth Friday celebrations. Mullins ran off, but authorities said they were able to arrest him a few hours later without incident.
