Fireflies to Hold Independence Day Celebration
COLUMBIA, SC – With Independence Day just days away, the Fireflies are proud to introduce a new Midlands tradition as we celebrate America’s birthday at Spirit Communications Park on Monday, July 4, 2016. Columbia hosts its in-state rival, the Charleston RiverDogs (New York Yankees); gates will open at 5 p.m., with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
“This is a terrific opportunity for families across the Midlands to start a new Independence Day tradition at Spirit Communications Park,” said Fireflies Team President, John Katz. “Baseball, Hot Dogs and Fireworks are better when enjoyed with your family, neighbors and friends.”
Mini-American flags will be given away to the first 3,000 fans in attendance. All fans can enjoy a pre-game concert featuring Columbia’s own 76 and Sunny at the Budweiser Bowtie Bar in centerfield from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. For fans 21+, we’ll have Happy Hour featuring $3 Bud Light and Budweiser 16-oz. aluminum bottles from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Kids of all ages can take part in our first-ever “Hoppy Hour,” as all unlimited play wristbands in the State Credit Union Kids Zone will be half price from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
July 4th is also a Fireflies’ Military Monday, offering $2 off All-Star & Reserved Tickets with military ID.
Bring the family and your appetite to the park and participate in the Fourth of July Family Picnic, the first of three “Add Some Flavor to Your Summer” Events. The buffet features hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, lattice chips, watermelon, all of the fixins’ and Pepsi products. Food service begins at 6:05 p.m. and ends 30 minutes after first pitch. This ticket package is $20 for adults and $15 for children ages seven and under. If you’ve already purchased your tickets for the game, upgrades are $15 for adults and $10 for children seven and under.
The most dazzling Independence Day fireworks show in Columbia will take place at Spirit Communications Park after the game. The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Kids Run the Bases is also scheduled post-game.
