Fireflies Get Festive for Fourth of July

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Glow time will take on a new meaning down at Spirit Communications Park this Fourth of July.

The Columbia Fireflies will be holding an Independence Day celebration tonight.

Mini-American flags will be given away to the first 3,000 fans in attendance.  All fans can enjoy a pre-game concert featuring Columbia’s own “76 and Sunny” at the Budweiser Bowtie Bar in centerfield from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  There will be a happy hour for fans 21 years old and older, with $3 Bud Light and Budweiser 16-oz. aluminum bottles from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.  Kids of all ages can take part “Hoppy Hour,” as all unlimited play wristbands in the State Credit Union Kids Zone will be half price from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

July 4th is also a Fireflies’ Military Monday, offering $2 off All-Star & Reserved Tickets with military ID.

Bring the family and your appetite to the park and participate in the Fourth of July Family Picnic, the first of three “Add Some Flavor to Your Summer” Events.  The buffet features hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, lattice chips, watermelon and Pepsi products.  Food service begins at 6:05 p.m. and ends 30 minutes after first pitch.  This ticket package is $20 for adults and $15 for children ages seven and under.  If you’ve already purchased your tickets for the game, upgrades are $15 for adults and $10 for children seven and under.

The most dazzling Independence Day fireworks show in Columbia will take place at Spirit Communications Park after the game.

Columbia hosts its in-state rival, the Charleston RiverDogs; gates will open at 5 p.m., with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
