Suspect Accused of Assaulting Deputy

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– A suspect is in custody after investigators say he assaulted a Richland County deputy.

Authorities say Sunday night Lawrence Blanding confronted the deputy about a ticket he issued to Blanding’s girlfriend on Cherry Stone Dr. in Northeast Richland County.

Investigators say the dispute became physical and Blanding attacked the deputy who was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
