Watch: South Carolina Implements Clear Bag Policy for Ticketed Athletic Events

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– If you’re headed to a University of South Carolina Athletic event, you might want to leave the purse and bookbag at home.

The University Athletics Department is now implementing a clear bag policy for all ticketed athletic events.
The policy will take effect in the 2016-17 season.

According to officials, the policy will limit the size and type of bags that may be brought into the venues for baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, football, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and volleyball, much of which has become the norm for large gatherings around the nation.

Approved Bags

Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” – A logo no larger than 4.5” x 3.4” can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag.
One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” – approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap
Medically necessary items (after proper inspection at specified gates)
