Fish Score Early, Hang On Late To Beat Dogs

lex-blowfish.jpgFAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (Blowfish) — The Blowfish got a much-needed win tonight over the Fayetteville SwampDogs at J.P. Riddle Stadium hanging on for the 8-4 victory.
Lexington County got the party started in the second when Grant Miller (Western Michigan) launched a two run homer over the left field wall giving the Fish a two nothing lead.
Adam Sasser (Georgia) and Henry Davis (Appalachian State) went back to back in the fourth first Sasser knocking in Miller with an RBI triple then Davis plating Sasser via a triple down the right field line.
Two sacrifice flies in the fifth from Miller and Bennette Hill (North Greenville) gave the Blowfish a 6-0 lead going into the sixth inning.
The SwampDogs scratched home a run in the home half of the 6th but made things interesting in the 7th when they loaded the bases with 1 out.  All the Dogs could muster were three runs to cut the Blowfish lead to 2.
But Zach Kolodziejski (Niagara) shut the door on the SwampDogs throughout the remainder of the game and the Blowfish added two runs in the ninth to complete the 8-4 win in Fayetteville.
Canaan Cropper (South Carolina) had a solid start for Lexington County going 4 innings only allowing 2 hits and no runs.  He also struck out three Fayetteville batters.
The win snaps a 4 game losing skid and pushes the Fish 3 full games up on the Forest City Owls, the team who they play tomorrow night at Lexington County Baseball Stadium, for the forth spot in the overall standings in the Coastal Plain League Western Division standings.
First pitch from the Lex is slated for 7:05 p.m. and pregame coverage begins on z93.1 FM The Lake at 6:50 p.m.
