Sumter man wanted for murder in custody
SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) – Sumter Police say the suspect in a fatal shooting Friday has turned himself in.
Officials believe Bernie Peoples III, 28, is responsible for killing Ante Lavern Witherspoon.
Officers said they responded to Dibert Street just after 4 p.m. Friday, where they found Witherspoon shot to death outside a house. Through their investigation, they said they determined Peoples as the shooter.
