Orangeburg man charged with armed robbery, carjacking
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) – An Orangeburg man has been charged with armed robbery and carjacking after a man was robbed at gunpoint last week.
Tykeem Johnson, 20, was charged with armed robbery, carjacking and a weapons charge after his arrest. Bond was denied during a hearing on Friday.
A man called Orangeburg County Sheriff’s investigators on July 9 after fleeing from his assailant. The man said he was forced to drive to a remote location on Muller Street where his car and financial cards were taken by a man brandishing a handgun. After taking the man’s possessions, the subject ordered the man to flee before he shot him.
Investigators discovered the man’s Mercury two days later, about five miles away on Cannon Bridge Road south of Orangeburg.
“Fortunately, this man wasn’t harmed in this incident in which he was threatened,” Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “This could have easily been a different and more tragic event.”
The investigation continues.
