Blowfish Beat Forest City for First Time this Season

lex-blowfish.jpgFOREST CITY, N.C. (Blowfish) — The Blowfish traveled up the interstate for arguably their most important matchup of the season against the Forest City Owls.  Until this point, Forest City had gotten the best of the Blowfish; until tonight.
Forest City jumped out ahead first after they loaded the bases with nobody out in the second but they could only muster one run on a double play ball.  Zach Kolodziejski (Niagara) buckled down to limit the damage.
Lexington County immediately tied the game in the third on a solo home run from Chris Singleton (Charleston Southern) his second of the season.
The Owls struck back in the home half of the fourth…
The Fish went quiet until the seventh when Dalton Ewing (Coastal Carolina) made his first impression with the Blowfish this season knocking the second solo home run of the game for Lexington County knotting the game back up at 2.  However, the Blowfish stranded the bases loaded in the inning.
Forest City stranded two of their own in the 7th and surrendered the lead to the Blowfish after 3 consecutive two out hits in the 8th.
The rally started when Ewing went to second on a ground ball off the third base bag that corralled into foul ground.  The very next batter Charlie Madden (Mercer) looped a double down the right field line plating in Ewing which was followed up by a single from Chaz McCormick (Millersville) that brought in Madden after AJ Bumpass (Cincinnati) committed an error in right field.
Will Smith (Presbyterian) and Jimmy Townsend-Chase (Western Michigan) finished the job for Lexington County en route to their first win over the Owls all season; a 4-2 comeback victory.
The win puts the Blowfish two games over .500 and keeps them multiple games ahead for the fourth spot in the overall CPL Western Division standings.
Tomorrow night Lexington County has off and on Wednesday will host the Florence RedWolves at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.  First pitch from the Lex is slated for 7:05 and pregame on z93.1 FM The Lake will begin at 6:50.
