(WPDE) – The car of a woman found dead along with her 9-year-old grandchild Sunday morning has been found burned on Birdsnest Road near Hartsville, according to Darlington County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy James Hudson.

He said the car was processed and searched for evidence.

The bodies of the woman and her grandchild were found at a home on Highway 151 in Darlington County.

The incident location is about one mile from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

Their deaths have been ruled as a double homicide, according to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee.

Hardee hasn’t released the names of the victims or how they were killed. Hardee said more information will be released Monday.

Rosemary Dunn lives next door to the victims.

Dunn said four people were in the home, the two victims who were killed and two children.

Dunn said two children came to her door crying and asking for help.

“I said what’s wrong, son? He said glass everywhere and blood everywhere. I want to use your phone to call 911. I said, well let me do it and I did. I said we need police. We need ambulances out here. I’m fixing to go over to their house. I was the first to go in and their bodies were on the floor,” said Dunn.

She’s hoping police will find the person or persons involved in the killings.

“The Lord do justice. Let them pay for what they’ve done. That’s the way I feel.”

Dunn said the grandmother was a kind person with a big heart.

“She was one of the nicest people in the world. If you need help or you need food. She would give it to you.”

The State Law Enforcement Division’s child fatality unit is helping in the investigation.
