Watch: Sumter Casket Company Fire

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– A massive blaze at a Casket Company in Sumter put area firefighters on alert and blocked traffic.
It happened off Magnolia street in Sumter.
According to officials, firefighters were able to get the fire under control at 6pm Monday. But it was anticipated to take several more hours to extinguish it.
At one point the Lafayette Street Bridge (US Hwy 15) was shut down to traffic as fire crews worked the blaze.

Officials say Sumter Casket Company has eight employees and some were in the building when the fire began. All are out and accounted for.
