‘Beyond the Badge,’ Collaboration Between CPD and Community

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Newly hired officers with the Columbia Police Department had a chance to become better acquainted with the community they will serve.

In light of recent events, the shooting death of three police officers in Baton Rouge on Sunday; five police officers in Dallas last week and the deaths of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana, CPD officers are hoping to increase public trust in law enforcement.

The officers took part in the week-long “Beyond the Badge” program; the initiative focuses on service and goodwill.
