Deputies with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office are seeking a fifth suspect in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in Eutawville last week.
Officials say 24-year-old Dwendell Lamont High of Summerville is believed to be the driver of a car involved in the shooting that left a 46-year-old woman dead.
Deputies say they chased the car to Holly Hill and attempted to stop it, but it sped away and later crashed on Salisbury Road.
High is not expected to be charged with murder.
Four other men already in custody are each facing a murder charge in the case.
According to an incident report provided by the sheriff’s office, a man at a Craig Street address in Eutawville called 911 and and said three men came into his home and fired several gunshots towards a shed in the back where several people were standing. The caller said one of the men then drove close to the shed in a black Buick. According to the report, a man got out of the Buick, “greeted” the men around the shed and then got back into the car and began to drive away.
But before he got too far, according to the report, three men jumped out of the Buick with semi automatic rifles and “unleashed a barrage of bullets.”
Anyone with information on High’s location is asked to contact the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office at 803-534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
