West Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — Cherry Reidenbach has been committed to caring for the soldiers of the 2nd battalion 327th infantry, since 2010, when her nephew was deployed.

She tells ABC Columbia, “For an entire year of their deployment we sent thousands of boxes.”

One of the soldiers who received those boxes, Sergeant First Class Jonathon Prins.

Prins and Staff Sergeant Charles Judge Junior were shot and killed outside the Frayed Knot while police say they were defending a woman who was being attacked.

“You pray that while they’re gone that nothing happens to them and that they come home safe and sound.  Then for this to happen, there are no words,” explains Reidenbach.

Immediately after the incident Reidenbach was asked to make memorial bands honoring the fallen servicemen and she hasn’t stopped since.

“I’ve got 146 orders that haven’t shipped yet. I’ve shipped 76 orders, that’s not bands, that’s orders . I’m shipping all over the country I’m shipping to the APO’s overseas,” she says.

Creating the bands is a time intensive process, but with 50% of the profits going to the family of Staff Seargeant Judge, Reidenbach says it’s a labor of love.
