Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — Despite the downed trees and crushed cars crews are cleaning up, Captain Brick Lewis with the Columbia Fire Department says there have been no serious injuries reported.

“Within a 4 hour period of time last night we had over 150 calls for services which ranged from medical and fire alarms to our structure fires and trapped persons in the water,” Lewis tells ABC Columbia.
Under the threat of severe weather for a second day in row, the Fire Department is reminding of the proper precautions when dealing with dangerous weather.

Lewis cautions, “If you see flooded roads avoid them turn around get out of the area and to higher ground . Obviously, if you see down power lines treat them all as live stay at least a bus distance away from them don’t touch anything that’s in contact with them.”

But unless being outside is absolutely necessary, Lewis says it’s best to wait it out indoors.
