Wolves Blow by Blowfish, 9-4

lex-blowfish.jpgFLORENCE, S.C. (Blowfish) — Coming into tonight’s ballgame with Florence, the Blowfish had only fallen to the RedWolves twice on the season.  Both times though they were at Sparrow Stadium.

Tonight the Fish dropped their third game to the Wolves on the road by the final score of 9-4.

The RedWolves led wire to wire in this one scoring first in the home half of the first inning on an RBI groundout from Ryan Kent (Morehead State).

The Fish tied the game in the top half of the second when Dalton Ewing (Coastal Carolina) doubled Mitch Spires (Winthrop) home on a line shot over Kent’s head in left.

But as Florence has done multiple times to Lexington County at home they immediately responded to the Blowfish scoring.  In the home half of the second, three straight four pitch walks loaded the bases for the RedWolves and Marc DiLeo (Mercyhurst) took advantage knocking in two with a two run single into right field.

The Blowfish knocked in another run in the fourth to cut the lead back to one on an Adam Sasser (Georgia) RBI double the right centerfield gap that brought in Adam Renwick (Clemson).

But the Wolves stormed right back with two runs in the home half of the fourth with a SAC fly from Nate Wierzgac (Lee) and a passed ball that brought in Kody Ruedisili (Wofford).

Sasser cut the lead back to one when he launched a two run home run out to right field in the sixth but in the seventh the RedWolves blew the doors open on the Fish which was capped by a bases clearing triple from Ruedisili.

Lexington County went quietly in the eighth and ninth and dropped their third game to Florence at Sparrow Stadium.

Tomorrow night the Blowfish wrap up their three game series with the RedWolves with two at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.  Game one will begin at 5:05 and will be a resumption of last night’s rain suspended game.  That game will begin in the third inning with the RedWolves leading 2-0.  Game two of the double dip will start approximately thirty minutes following the completion of game one.  Pregame coverage on z93.1 FM The Lake will begin at 4:50.
